1. Introduction and Acceptance
Welcome to EduFun Library. These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of our library services, facilities, and website. By using our services, registering for a library card, or accessing our facilities, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you may not use our services. We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason at any time.
2. Library Membership
2.1 Eligibility
Library cards are available to:
- Residents of our service area with valid proof of address
- Students enrolled in local educational institutions
- Employees of participating organizations
- Temporary residents with valid identification
2.2 Registration Requirements
To register for a library card, you must:
- Provide valid government-issued photo identification
- Provide current proof of address
- Complete the registration form accurately
- Agree to these Terms and Conditions
- Be at least 18 years old, or have parental consent if under 18
2.3 Card Responsibilities
Library cardholders are responsible for:
- Maintaining current contact information
- Safeguarding their library card and account information
- All materials borrowed on their card
- All activities conducted using their card or account
- Reporting lost or stolen cards immediately
2.4 Card Renewal and Expiration
Library cards expire annually and must be renewed with current information. Expired cards may result in suspension of borrowing privileges.
3. Borrowing Policies
3.1 Loan Periods
- Books: 3 weeks (renewable once if no holds)
- DVDs: 1 week (not renewable)
- Magazines: 1 week (not renewable)
- Reference materials: In-library use only
- Digital materials: Varies by format (1-3 weeks)
3.2 Loan Limits
- Books: 10 items per card
- DVDs: 3 items per card
- Digital materials: 5 items per card
- Total combined limit: 15 items per card
3.3 Renewals
Items may be renewed once if:
- No other patron has placed a hold on the item
- Your account is in good standing
- The item is eligible for renewal
- You renew before the due date
3.4 Holds and Reservations
Patrons may place holds on items that are currently checked out. Hold notifications are sent via email or phone. Reserved items must be picked up within 7 days of notification.
4. Overdue Items and Fines
4.1 Overdue Fines
- Books: $0.25 per day per item
- DVDs: $1.00 per day per item
- Magazines: $0.50 per day per item
- Maximum fine per item: Cost of replacement
4.2 Grace Period
A 7-day grace period applies to all materials before fines begin accruing.
4.3 Lost or Damaged Items
Patrons are responsible for the full replacement cost of lost or damaged items, plus a $5.00 processing fee. Damaged items may be repaired at the patron's expense if repair is possible.
4.4 Account Suspension
Borrowing privileges may be suspended if:
- Fines exceed $25.00
- Items are overdue by more than 30 days
- Account information is outdated
- Terms and Conditions are violated
5. Digital Services
5.1 Access Requirements
Digital services require:
- Valid library card in good standing
- Compatible device and internet connection
- Acceptance of third-party platform terms
- Adobe Digital Editions or similar software for e-books
5.2 Usage Restrictions
Digital materials are for personal, non-commercial use only. Sharing login credentials or attempting to circumvent digital rights management is prohibited.
5.3 Technical Support
Basic technical support is available during library hours. Advanced technical issues may require assistance from third-party vendors.
6. Facility Use
6.1 Operating Hours
- Monday - Friday: 9:00 AM - 8:00 PM
- Saturday: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM
- Sunday: 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM
- Holidays: Closed or reduced hours (posted in advance)
6.2 Conduct Expectations
All patrons must:
- Respect other patrons and library staff
- Maintain appropriate noise levels
- Dress appropriately
- Supervise children under 12 at all times
- Use library materials and equipment properly
- Follow posted rules and staff instructions
6.3 Prohibited Activities
- Disruptive behavior or excessive noise
- Use of tobacco, alcohol, or illegal substances
- Bringing weapons or dangerous items
- Sleeping or loitering
- Inappropriate use of computers or internet
- Commercial activities or solicitation
- Blocking aisles or emergency exits
6.4 Food and Beverages
Covered beverages are permitted. Food is allowed in designated areas only. Patrons must clean up after themselves.
7. Computer and Internet Use
7.1 Access Policy
- Valid library card required for computer use
- Time limits may apply during busy periods
- Printing available for a fee
- Free Wi-Fi available throughout the library
7.2 Acceptable Use
Computer and internet use must comply with all applicable laws and library policies. Prohibited activities include:
- Accessing illegal or inappropriate content
- Hacking or attempting to breach security
- Installing unauthorized software
- Using computers for commercial purposes
- Violating copyright or licensing agreements
7.3 Privacy and Monitoring
Computer use may be monitored for security and compliance purposes. Users have no expectation of privacy when using library computers.
8. Programs and Events
8.1 Registration
Some programs require advance registration. Registration may be limited and is typically first-come, first-served.
8.2 Age Requirements
Program age requirements are strictly enforced. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult unless otherwise specified.
8.3 Cancellation Policy
Programs may be cancelled due to low enrollment, weather, or other circumstances. Participants will be notified as soon as possible.
8.4 Photography and Recording
The library may photograph or record programs for promotional purposes. Attendance constitutes consent unless you notify staff otherwise.
9. Study Rooms and Meeting Spaces
9.1 Reservation Policy
- Advance reservations required
- Maximum 2 hours per day per patron
- No commercial use permitted
- Rooms must be left clean and in original condition
9.2 Cancellation
Reservations should be cancelled if not needed. No-shows may result in restriction of future booking privileges.
10. Intellectual Property
10.1 Copyright Compliance
All patrons must comply with copyright laws when using library materials and equipment. The library is not responsible for patron copyright violations.
10.2 Website Content
All content on our website, including text, graphics, logos, and software, is owned by EduFun Library or its licensors and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.
10.3 User-Generated Content
By submitting content to our website or social media, you grant us a non-exclusive license to use, modify, and display that content for library purposes.
11. Liability and Disclaimers
11.1 Limitation of Liability
The library is not liable for:
- Loss or damage to personal property
- Injury on library premises (except where caused by library negligence)
- Loss of data or computer problems
- Content accessed through our internet connection
- Availability of specific materials or services
11.2 Security
While we provide security measures, patrons are responsible for their personal property. The library is not responsible for theft or damage to personal items.
11.3 Service Availability
Library services may be interrupted for maintenance, emergencies, or other reasons. We are not liable for inconvenience caused by service interruptions.

13. Enforcement and Appeals
13.1 Policy Violations
Violations of these Terms may result in:

Patrons may appeal disciplinary actions by:
- Submitting a written appeal to the Library Director within 30 days
- Requesting a hearing before the Library Board if necessary
- Following the formal grievance procedure outlined in our policies
14. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting on our website and display in our facilities. Continued use of library services constitutes acceptance of modified Terms.

- Posted notices in the library

15. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the state in which the library is located. Any disputes arising from these Terms or library services will be resolved in the appropriate local courts.
